Definition of procedures and IT tools for seismic assessment of a portfolio of more than 200 historic churches.
S.M.A.C. (Seismic Multilevel Assessment of Churches)
A multilevel approach has been designed to assess a portfolio of historic churches subjected to induced seismicity in the Groningen area (The Netherlands). The objective of the methodology is the prioritization of the 226 included in the database to assist in decision making and optimizing the allocation of resources for analyses and possible strengthening.
Three different levels of survey and analysis are defined to obtain increasing accuracy of results consistent with the available level of knowledge at each step. The procedure is provided with a series of automatic and semi-automatic tools which allow to gather the information and run analyses systematically and rapidly.
At each step it is possible to define which churches go to further levels, which churches are safe enough to be excluded and which churches require to be strengthened.
